In 1885, Adolfo Garcia Fernandez left the village of Otur together with his wife, Eduviges Lopez, with the objective of working in Luarca searching for a way of living far from the agricultural and farm labor.

Shortly after settling in Luarca, Adolfo founded a grocery company and very soon after based on his wife’s recipes, a bakery that he combined with his business.

There were difficult years due to the Civil War and the confiscation of raw materials and finished goods from the troops in contention. Adolfo was struggling to feed his large family.

It is said that after difficult times come good ones and Adolfo’s business started to prosper and gave enough to be able to reimburse all the bank loans and provide well-being to his family.

Adolfo was succeeded by his sons Manuel and Marino who shared with their father the hard work and difficulties through those challenging times.

Adolfo’s grandsons, Marino and Jose Manuel, continued with the family businesses, who kept the recipes and the know-how learnt through the past generations. Along with the current recipes (bread, shortbreads, and butter cookies), they also developed new products as the courtesy cookies which production started in the 1980’s with the “cinnamon cookie” followed by the “hazelnut cookie”.

Adolfo’s grandsons also modernized the processing and packaging equipment, incorporating the first flow-pack packing machine, producing 300 units per minute, unprecedented at that time.

Nowadays, his great-grandsons, Marino y Jose Manuel, continue with the modernization and expansion of the business. They relocated the facilities to the Industrial Area of Almuña, injecting a renewed vision to the company aligned with the market trends and new technologies. They continuously incorporate new production techniques and develop new products & markets by maintaining the same Company’s philosophy since its foundation: quality above all.

Since Adolfo founded the Company with the general Industry registration number 0/00199 to this day, four generations have put their endless efforts, hard work, illusions and ambitions in everything they have been doing for over one century.
